JUst hope this never happens to any of you out there but after a purely routine close-down on a Mac G4 laptop rinning OSX.v10.2 I had a total passowrd failure.
A new window appearing demanding my name and password and nothing would persuade it to work. Re-booting from disk, software re-load all failed. Could not even post to list for help - how desperate can one get? Anyhow to cut a long story short there is a workround which involves someone who knows UNIX code and regards this kind of thing as a challenge to be over come. Two hours of scrolling code and it was working again. So if any of you have this problem there is now a proven protocol for recovery and the man to call in your darkest hour is Eric Eames on 0207 689 3400. And the moral of this story is not to buy your computers from a box shifting warehouse but from a dealer who cares and who for his measly 5% mark-up will give you instant back-up and support.
