Hi Simon, I am currently using a Nikon Coolscan 8000 for all my scanning, but it struggles with transparency film, especially Velvia, which I want to continue using.
I have the opportunity of buying a fully serviced and used Imacon Flextight III, and I would like to know if it is able to provide a good scan from Velvia film, capturing the shadow detail as well as the highlights. I have sent Velvia film for a test, and the results from that will be helpful in making my mind up. However, one test is not the same as the experience you build up with regular use, and as an buying an Imacon is a big investment for me, even though it is a used Iamacon, I would appreciate any comments you may have about its ability to handle Velvia, and other transparency films you may have scanned, such as Provia for example.
