Dear Dick
Good point. When shooting film I attach a unique number to each roll and ask the lab to transfer this to the processed film. In that way I am able to easily decide which images follow which and compare with my notebook or route map. I have already decided to use Image Info Toolkit as my keywording programme. Wet days on travel trips might be spent adding the appropriate Keywords to the IIT database.
The main advantage as I see it is that once the keywords are in the IPTC header the images can be submitted to Alamy, MIRA and other agencies without further work. They can also be read by Cumulus so the whole data management becomes a lot smoother.
I am concerned about the excess of information in the Exif capture and would prefer not to have it. I've never been interested in what exposure I used or which length lens. A future version of IIT promises to remove information as well as adding it.
Thanks
Bob
