This is correct and the images are ( just as in the D60) a bit larger than what the viewfinder shows. Jonathan ,one of the few useful things I have read about this Out-of-Autofocus is to supress the focus points except the central one, and jump to manual for off -centered subjects. Don't know if you have tried this one. Also I would like to know if you have tested the SERVO focus system for moving subjects, which I consider is quite a piece of engineering from Canon, way better than regular AF As much as I find outofocus a practical thing, I still use manual focus for most of my shooting and I get better results, or at least more to my liking, since I know where I was focusing and not where was the camera choosing a focus point. This dates back to my film workflow. A stock shooter friend of mine had the same situation with a 10D and he was not even able to get perfect manual focus, but the replacement camera showed up perfectly is now an overnight digital convert.
