I'm going to make a purchase for a 15" Powerbook, 1GHz with 256MB ram that
I'll
upgrade to 768MB. With PCs, I've used them for so long that I know what to
look for in
a purchase, what software to get, etc. This is not the case with Mac, and I
have
several questions before I will go and make the purchase.

This laptop will be used for several purposes:
1. Photoshop editing when i'm not in the office. (happens a lot)
2. Presentation of photos to clients
3. Also considering the possibility of tethered shooting with the laptop,
but I haven't
find a software that works really well for my D1x. (i.e: like Phase One's)

Now the questions:
1. What is a good ACDSee like program for the Macintosh? This program is
crucial to
my workflow. I'm experimenting with Extensis Portfolio at the moment, which
seems
like a decent software to use, though ACDSee is still better.
2. Nikon Digital shooting people, what program do you use for the raw
workflow? I
use Bibble in the PC, but the Mac version sucks just the same. I thought
the only other
choice is Nikon Capture or Capture One. But Capture One for Mac only
support
Canon 1d cameras it seems. Does Adobe's Raw allow tethered shooting?
3. Should I wait for the latest version of the OS? (panther??) How soon do
you think
it'll be before Powerbook comes equipped with these?

Other than those questions, is there anything else that you guys can add to
the to-
know list?
