Yes, I agree for the most part...but!

The luminosity blend is a weighted average simulation and does not work
exactly the same as in LAB mode - for some edits and images the differences
will be major and one may prefer one move over the other. For other images
and edits, one may be quite happy with the simulation of LAB in RGB (CMYK is
not quite right, but it works, sort of, well it works better than normal
mode <g>).

I am a big fan of using luminosity, color, hue and or saturation blend modes
to simulate LAB or HSB type moves while in RGB or CMYK.
