I managed to get through to Epson UK today without the usual phone queue on
non
reply to email!
They now have a live e-talk facility on their website, with speedy response
to questions.
>From there, I have just had it confirmed that the Glossy Paper Photo Weight
has been discontinued, and there are no plans for a replacement gloss paper
for the 2100 printer
>From the transcript below, you will see that epson now imply that glossy
paper is not suitable for pigment inks, despite the fact that the printer
was initially supplied with samples of both gloss and semi gloss papers.
Double speak?
I did not pursue it any further as it was clear that they would not go any
further than saying gloss was no longer available.
Back to the 1160?

Initial Question/Comment: Good morning, I use the Epson 2100 printer.
My usual paper supplier informs me that the Glossy Paper Photo Weight has
recently been discontinued. Do you plan to offer a replacement glossy paper
soon?
Sue says, Hi john all recommended paper for the 2100 - can be found on
the following page, http://www.buyepson.co.uk/category.asp?
mainunit=C11C387022&category_name=Inkjet+media&dept=Consumables Glossy
paper is not recommended for the 2100 as it is a pigment ink printer - only
semi gloss
You say, incorrect, have you look had at that page? Glossy Paper-Photo
Weight SO41349 is not listed!
Sue says, Glossy paper is not recommended for the 2100 as it is a
pigment ink printer - only semi gloss
You say, When I bought the printer it came with printed epson samples
of both the semi gloss and the gloss, why has this specification suddenly
changed?!
Sue says, sorry to keep you - the paper is no longer available John ,
it was listed - you are correct for the 2100 - there are no plans to bring
any more out - the semi gloss is the best replacement
You say, So spending money on printer profiles for this paper was a
waste of money. I do not like the semi, and must now buy a different printer
to get archival quality gloss prints?
Sue says, John the paper has been discontinued and there are no plans
to bring any more out
You say, I remain extremely disappointed. Thank you for your time
Sue says, Your welcome John --Thank you for using EPSON e-Talk - bye
for now
Sue has left this session!
