Hi I had this happen on my OSX printer server, after some of the driver was corrupted (it lost big page sizes). I had a look round for the 1290 epson drivers (library/printers/epson), threw away the SP1290 package and re-installed the latest drivers. The key seems to be in manually removing some files so that the installer does a re-install rather than see that the files are already there.
