Dear List,

As promised, I am just writing to let you know how we freed CS.

As always, the solution was quite simple - close the File Browser whilst
editing folders containing lots of large files. We have such a lot of
200MB+ files sitting in folders that, once opened, PS was trying to cache
them all. Unchecking a couple of preferences also helped (High quality
previews, background processing...).

Since then, I have been working on much smaller files - RAW captures from my
Canon G5 - and have found the processing within CS to be excellent. A much
improved workflow. Actually, leaving the FB open whilst editing these files
is no problem as they all take moments to cache.

We are so used to working with it open in PS7, sitting on the second
monitors with the other palettes, that it just didn't naturally spring to
mind as a problem in CS.

Thank you very much to Russell Williams for your help in sorting this out.

Best wishes,

JL
