check out this guy http://www.theprinterman.co.uk/menu.htm
we have used him a few times - he's an ex epson engineer - and can weedle recons out of them for your ailing machinery.
and he's cheapish
Dear Carl
I hope your experience is the norm but we certainly will not be risking another printer in his direction for the following reasons:
Accepted his quote, then a couple of days later he rang to say the printer is ready but instead of 200.00 it's over 400.00
Printer arrives with bits of expanded polystyrene scattered throughout the works....poor thinking!
Printer exhibits the same nozzle blockage problems it was sent to Ian to rectify. He asks for it back and its several months before it is ready again. In the meantime of course we have had to buy an alternative! All subsequent contact has had to be from our direction!
Eventually got the cost of repair back but only after having to put on the pressure, but as he felt he could only afford to do this if he sold the printer on, we have lost what was a little used printer. I would have expected by now that we would have received a payment that reflected the loss of our printer....an Epson Pro 5000 BTW.
This unhappy experience was the 'trigger'/ factor in looking at Canon who have the advantage of having user changeable print heads. We have bought in to their 5yr on site warrantee as well, not wishing to have to endure disappointing service and unacceptable down time ever again.
Take care!
