Dear ProdigPeople,

I have a Dimage 7i, which on the whole, I am very fond of....

I also have purchased various CF cards for my various cameras over the
years. The latest and largest is a 512mb Bytestor which I obtained
via the net in the UK quite cheaply some months ago.

I have noticed over the weeks that my 7i is given to locking up in
record mode, seemingly when refocussing is taking place. A message
"Err" appears, and all screens go blank. Nothing seems to get lost, I
just have to switch the camera off and start again.

I rather hoped this phenomenon might disappear as I upgraded the
camera software to 1.11e. This task was straightforward, although I
have not noticed any benefits yet!

I wanted to take some shots of the maddening crowds of York today in
winter sunshine and was frustrated to find that the fault reoccured
with regularity. I continued my task using a 32mb Canon CF card -
Faultless.

At home I reformatted my 512mb in the camera. Fault continues. I
formated it in my computer in my card reader under Windows 2000.
Problem solved in camera - no crashes. Format again in camera -
crash, crash. Under W2000 - OK. I am not able to say what the
parameters of each machine is. I tried to format in DOS, /A:8192
(which I thought was the camera's preferred choice, but the command
would not allow this - disk to large I think it said.

But, fingers crossed, the problem seems to be solved, although I wish
I knew exactly why. Anybody had anything similar occur?

Sorry for the rambling nature of this mail. May your patience be
rewarded by a very happy new year.
