Hi All,Hi John. It is almost certainly dust on the sensor that you haven't managed to remove. I use the eclipse sensor swabs on mine. It is recommended that you have the Nikon mains adaptor in order to guarantee the shutter stays open. I think Fixation sell the kits as do Robert White. They do work but the whole thing is pricey.
I have a Nikon D100 which is about 3 months old. Yesterday I did a job in a hotel, and noticed a couple of marks on the wall that I cloned out in PS. I then looked at the next image and they were on that in the same relative positions.
http://www.jcole.co.uk/uploads/DSC_0003.jpg is my own blank wall with the same marks!
I have opened the shutter and gingerly air-dusted the sensor (or its shield?), to no avail. Am I looking at "dead pixels"?
