I think it's possible. I have a tip in my Photoshop 7.0 Essential Tips eBook
that covers something similar. Try surrounding the numbers with a hash sign,
like so #001#. That will increase the numbers sequentially up to 00025 if
you have renamed 25 files. To continue, start the next batch like so #0026#.
