Just noticed rather late a couple of mentions of Pocket Wizards, with
reference to the lower USA prices. Yes, and generally I'm all for saving
money this way, but be aware of the different specs: the world is divided
into three or four frequency zones, and Pocket Wizards (plus, important to
note, other-brand items built for PW compatibility such as Sekonic slave
units & radio modules, and built-in slave transmitters like those being
incorporated into cameras) are made for a specific frequency zone. I bought
my first PW units in the USA before they were officially available in UK,
then later when Sekonic produced their wonderfully convenient radio module
for the 608 meter I found my UK/EU meter would not trigger my US PW slave
receivers! Luckily Pocket Wizard have great tech support, and their guy Pat
arranged for my units to be changed to EU frequencies, at a reasonable cost
and very quickly. But watch out for this, because you could make an
expensive mistake with frequency incompatibility in trying to combine radio
slave kit from different countries.
