It strikes me that it is more likely to be a quirk of OSX than Photoshop so does anyone please know of any hidden setting / keystroke which will enable me to have processed files come up in the window as they bare completed?

I too have noticed this, it is a quirk of OSX (10.2.8 in my case), you have to click in the window if it's in the background to make it refresh. Does make for the odd anxious moment.. Not sure if shaguar is the same anyone?
