I bought an international 5 year extension warranty at B&H for my 1Ds, 
as far as I could remember it's about $200, may be $300, the camera 
should be repaired by the local Canon service.

I did not had the opportunity to test it yet.

What I didn't succeed to understand are such huge differences, taking 
care of the exchange rates, between, say... UK/France and the rest of 
the world, Germany and Spain included. Not for all items, but about 50 
% are half price abroad.

Is somebody out there could help me?

Warranty is regional so It would not be 100% valid here. The way it 
works
is that if a repair is required it is done at Fixation or JP Solutions 
and
charged for. It is then claimed back from the supplying dealer.
Alternatively the camera is sent directly to the US.
