Hi All

I'm unashamedly passing on a tip posted to the Live Picture Group by Grant Symon. In doing so, I wonder how many of you are using i-sight with i-chat. I find it incredibly useful (along with the purely text MSN Messenger and ICQ)

"Panther has quietly introduced FireWire over IP networking. It's built-in. There's a simple description in the Panther OS Help files of how to set it running. Once it is you can connect a FW cable between to Macs, directly, with them both running (I know it sounds weird) ... or even 'daisy-chain' lots of Macs... and you will have file-sharing, via iChat, with the high-speed of FireWire, i.e. a *lot* faster than Gigabit Ethernet AND .... it works with Rendezvous. So you don't even have to 'find' the other Mac. The great bonus of using it with iChat and thus Rendezvous, is the simplicity of simply dragging a file onto an iChat user's icon. Try it and see. *: ) The down-side of course, is we've just installed an Airport network in the studio. Ho hum. *: /

(BTW... if you have Airport running as well, iChat seems to use that first for Rendezvous, so you may need to turn off your Airport connection during file transfers. I haven't looked for a solution to this yet, so it may well exist in a preference somewhere)."
