Dear List,
thanks to everyone who has responded, I have a better idea now than yesterday, I shall look into all the suggestions, even those about heavens forbid its a brave new world Canon.
Just a short addition to the charging debate, I definatly wont be trying to compete on price with anyone, The quality of my work, technically if not artistically, is the only thing that separates me from my competitors and for that I wish to be paid for the effort I put in. My next question after the one about kit was on charging as I already have invested heavily in terms of learning photoshop and having a good quality digital printing/ retouching workflow. I have found it strange that people thought it cheaper as there seems as much if not more work than with film. There is a lot of uninformed guff talked by clients here as elswhere and by clients I mean the people who pay the agencys and design houses and they have it in their heads that it must be done on digital which I have no problem with but as I said earlier I get work because of the quality of work i produce so I wont be giving them rubbish pics on a no brand CD. I hope that they will realise that it takes more than just shooting and downloading onto their computers.
I always say to clients that they can have 2 out of these 3 things: cheap, good, quick but not all 3 at once. I dont see why digital should be different
