[PRODIG] To (2nd drive) partition or not?

Back on the list after several months of lurking through the archive. 
I'm UK based doing editorial and design based work on film and DSLR.
With my G4 Start up Disk almost full I went and purchased and installed 
another 80gig drive. Given that I run PS CS and Kodak Photodesk (Dual 1 
gig, OSX 10.2.8 and 1.5 gig RAM) is there any advantage in partitioning 
the new drive? So far my intention is to put either the files or 
applications on the new drive. No plans to get a third one.
Any views or experiences please?
