Don't want to get into scanning, retrograde step I feel compared with
digital capture, but I have a smallish back catalogue. I've been offered
two machines: a Nikon Coolscan 8000 (Nikon ex-demo, refurbished as new,
full guarantee) for �1699 or a Minolta 5400 (s/h but virtually unused) for
�399 - both incl VAT. The Nikon would be nice as I have lots of rollfilm
trannies, but the priority is 35mm trannies plus all my old b/w negs - and
batch scanning, auto-slidefeed, would be v. useful, so how's that on each?
Now the dust has settled following what seemed to be widespread early
teething troubles with these, what do their owners think - and are my
prices good? Would buy machine, do my stuff, then flog it again.
