Hi

I've just been attempting to calibrate my old Powerbook (Pismo G3/500 OSX
10.3) with a Spyder (optiCAL 3.7.5) and find that profiles no longer seem to
help.

The best profile for an even greyscale without crossovers is currently the
default one. Even using the OSX 'by eye' calibrator gives better results
than the Spyder :-)

The Spyder does just fine on newer kit (CRT and LCD)

It's been quite some time (several OS and disk changes) since I did this
particular machine (it doesn't usually get used for imaging work). I've also
noticed that the screen (backlight) is fading, and needs to be at full
brightness to get a useful image.

Is all this just a consequence of an aging screen?

bye for now
