Hi

What format did you get the images from the camera in? Any auto-whitebalance
settings tend to give noticeably wrong results for things like sunsets. I'd
use raw and adjust afterwards.

On a similar note, I saw this the other day taking some shots of the
'sunset' at the Tate Modern gallery. It's low pressure sodium light - I'd
love to see what some of the people snapping away end up with :-)

Another problem is that even at sunset, the dynamic range required is a lot
for getting the sun -and- the landscape. I have to admit though, I've not
pointed a long lensed digital camera at the sun.

One other thing -just in case anyone didn't know- It is very dangerous to
look at magnified images of the sun, even at sunset. It only takes a moment
to cause -irreparable- damage to your eyesight, less time than it takes for
your pupil to contract or to blink.
