Thanks so much!! That's one problem solved. I appreciate your suggestion, Shangara.

I have bumped up against another conundrum, as well, and hope that someone can suggest a solution: In PS CS, when I highlight a title in the Open dialogue box, a long time passes while a thumbnail is being produced. It takes much, much longer than PS7 did, but produces thumbnails of newly scanned images as well as adjusted ones (120mg + files). PS7 only thumbnailed adjusted images. Maybe that reflects the way I had set preferences rather than differences in the PS', themselves. Should (could) I change my settings to allow me to choose when a thumbnail should appear? There are times I just want to open a file. I have to sit and wait for literally two minutes as the computer prepares a thumbnail before I can open it, though. I'm using an Athlon 1600 XP CPU running Windows XPpro. That solution could change my life quite dramatically. :+)

In that case, make an action that first sets the Rulers to Percent in the
Preferences > Units & Rulers dialog and then reverts the setting at the end
of the action.
