I'm setting up a new PC and want to partition the second hard drive for Photoshop (CS) scratch discs.
I'm a bit confused on how much to allocate. At present I have allocated two 2 Gig partitions, on the basis that Martin Evenings' 'PS 7 for Photographers' states that 2 Gig is the max for each of up to four scratch discs.
Dear Philip
You do not say what OS you are using but I will assume Win2k or XP. On 2K we have no problems with one scratch disk of 10G as one single partition. The other day we had over 5G of scans open and were able to happy work like that so the configuration must be OK! Just looked at one of the Macs.. OS 9.2 scratch disk 6G in one partition, again fine.
BTW if you are on 2k or XP do make sure your paging file is also on a dedicated disk in its own partition for best speed. This should be in the archives in greater detail but if you want to know more feel free to email me.
Hope that helps
