I found that if I wait for the File Browser to complete generating previews, etc., and then choose "Export cache" from the FB's File menu, three small files are added to the folder of images.
If you include those files when burning the CD, the File Browser on the client's machine reads everything almost instantly. I've now taken to exporting the cache in almost all cases.
