Imagine going from ground floor to 1st floor. First with 8 steps, then the same height with 16 steps, obviously the 16steps will each be smaller but in total cover the same distance
Just to be pedantic 8 bit would be 256 steps 16 bit would be 65,536 steps or effectively a smooth ramp.
