Following conversations with Rod Wynne-Powell and Adam Woolfitt on the way back from Focus, I decided to create a script that might help with workflow for those users who have digital cameras, shoot in RAW, and mount their Memory cards through a card reader or a PCMCIA device.

It was written with Canon D30/D60/D300/10D/1D/1Ds users in mind, but it is modifiable to suit the requirements of Nikon or other users. It is Mac OS X only at the moment, but seeing as it is open source if anyone knows what to do for PCs contact me and I can host that as well.

Simply when you have shot your images, mount your Compact Flash card, and run the Apple script. This then runs a UNIX shell script that copies your RAW and/or JPG files to a new folder in your designated Image Storage folder. The folder will be dated and it allows for 3 separate imports during the day (this too is modifiable). The script is non-destructive and does not delete any files on the CF card.

Its main benefits are speeding up file import, and consistent naming and placing of files.

The only condition of use is that if you use it and you like/dislike it let me know.
If you feel there are improvements that could be made, let me know.
If you make changes or come up with a Windows version, let me know and I'll host it

I sincerely hope it can be of use to you.

kind regards

Richard Earney
