It's soft in the edges, not distorted.

I'm currently waiting for a replacement of a defective one, but my initial
tests showed similar results to Pop Photo, who published a test in the
current issue. Corners soft at all apertures, center quite sharp at all
apertures, astoundingly low distortion at all focal lengths. I photographed
the Adobe building at 12mm with a 1Ds, then put a line in Photoshop down a
building edge near the frame edge -- I was stunned to see no visible
distortion on the screen resolution display. Pop measured 0.22% barrel at
12mm and 0.93% pincushion at 24mm.

With the 10D-size sensor, Pop measured 0-10% resolution falloff at edges
from center resolution at all apertures.

The one significant drawback is inability to use normal filters on
full-frame cameras because of bulbous front element.

Bottom line: fabulous lens for APS-size sensor cameras, amazing one for full
frame if you can live with soft corners.
