Thanks William, and all who responded. >-- 1160/CIS/Lyson, great combination. after lots of problems I wrote this up: CLEANING THE EPSON PRINTER BEFORE CHANGING INKS::: go to: http://www.colourmanagement.net/profiling_inkjets.html download the colourmanagement.net RGB profiling kit v.5x First: We need to test the printer is working right: for this the profiling download includes a <printertestimage.tif> Using the original Epson inks and the biggest paper width your printer can take - if it's an A3 plus printer - it has to be A3 plus paper. [doesn't have to be the expensive stuff - but it has to be A3 plus, maybe get Epson Heavyweight matte - it's cheap?] print the image over the whole width of the paper. In Photoshop <print with preview> will give you the opportunity to <fit image to page>. We have to know the printer is even across the width, or there is no point in continuing. Once you have a clean print of the image with no missing areas or stripes / banding then replace the Epson inks with the Lyson cleaning cartridges. Now print the same image using the cleaning fluid, you may have to print 2 or 3 pages to get it clear - that means no colour coming onto the paper. Leave for a few hours and make another print, leave overnight and ditto now, as long as all is clear, put in the Lyson inkset or install the CIS [Which you already loaded with ink - right?] now reprint the same image on the cheap paper until you get a clean print from the Lyson inks. Now we are ready to make the tests needed to ascertain the ideal printer settings for your final paper choice. Regards, NeilB.
