Simon, A: It means that the card cannot be read by the camera, because the computer has written data to the card that the camera does not understand. Most commonly, because images have been deleted or altered by the computer. B: Put the card in the camera. Turn the camera on. "card not initialized" will be displayed. Press the Menu button and then the Play button alternatively, in rapid succession. Keep pressing each button until the Play menu appears, allowing you to choose "Format Card". Once formatted, the card should operate correctly. Assuming the card is a Compact Flash or Smart Media card. If a Microdrive, the same will apply, but the error may turn out to be a faulty Microdrive. It's 3:30pm Saturday afternoon in Australia, so I expect this will help you before Saturday morning in UK.
