Dear list

I'm having a bit of a monitor nightmare upgrading a G4 733 from OS9.2 to OSX
Panther. The monitor is an old but trusty 21" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 91TXM.

The install went fine and then I tried to change the screen resolution...
uh, bad idea :(

The screen went black and a red box comes up with "Signal frequency is out
of range- please change signal timing"

Has anyone else come up against this... and is there any way of changing the
display settings in system prefs in OSX without a screen to look at? I can
still reboot in OS9... but the screen res settings are clearly independent
within the the 2 different OS's...

Or can the monitor be reconfigured through its own user controls to detect a
new display resolution?

Or is this perhaps the moment to upgrade to that shiny new LCD..?

Many thanks for any advice
Tim
