Can the info pallet be used to show the true lab values after file
conversion to an output profile?

I noticed that after converting a file to its output profile using
"convert to profile", the info pallet continues to perform virtual
conversions using the colour settings. Even after loading the exact same
output profile as a default RGB space the info pallet continues to vary the
lab numbers it shows with changes to the colour settings. I have no idea
what it is considering source and destination in this scenario.

When, if ever does the info pallet simply read the lab values in the look
up table of an output profile , as it does with an RGB work space, without
performing a virtual conversion?

Since the info pallet is the poor man's seeing dog. This is understandingly
frustrating.

And would this mean that the only viable way to correlate data and density
ising only Photoshop would be to chart the RVB signals of the output devise,
which the info pallet displays more reliably?

Any help understanding or advice would be appreciated.
