Thank you SO much for the suggestion. I spent my $90 and it worked within minutes. It said there was damage to the catalogue but rebuilt the whole volume accurately and restored the original desktop icon. I haven't checked every file but they seem fine at first glance.
What an AMAZING piece of software!!!!
