It might be possible to have an extra ADSL line
installed and combine the two for uploading. I
believe that this kind of option was available
for ISDN users. I can't see why this shouldn't
work for ADSL: after all, they are both digital
lines...
Might be worth a chat with your ISP's tech people.

It appears from my conversations with BT that 256 up is the limit unless I
use a dedicated bandwidth (starting at �170/month for the 512/256).
