Hi Bob, After the newness of the 1DS wore off, I have to say I feel the same as you. I put it down to the fact that before, as I triped the shutter, I had that feeling of 'that's the one' when I knew I'd got the shot. But you still had to wait at the lab to be sure. That's all gone, now.
I try not to use the preview screen too much too, I just set it to check the historgam. Interested in some of the replies, though. Think I'll try the quick slideshow idea, if only as an excuse for a glass of red...
