Hello,
I am working on a project that needs images to be printed at a maximum size of about
32 x
25 cm (12x10'').
As lpi would be around 175, a factor of 1.5 is applied to get the correct dpi to scan.
(I've been told to use 2 if the printer uses lpi less than 133, and 1.5 if it is over
133). Thus, the final dpi is 262 (175x1.5=262.5).
I am considering to use a digital camera, instead of scanning original slides. Both D70
and D100 have a maximum image size of 3008 x 2000 pixels. This size, at 262 dpi, will
give images about 29 x 19 cm (11.4 x 7.6''), which will be insufficient for the size
needed.
Am I doing wrong calculations, or magazines and books that currently use digital images
(and that need these sort of sizes, for example, for spreads) are resampling the
photographs?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Marcelo
