The difference with the 1Ds is that it is a reflex, the powershots aren't- so the sensor is only exposed during the exposure. Rest of the time there's a mirror in the way. The viewfinder display is reality, not what the sensor is seeing. So no live video feed.

You would need to knock up some kind of video camera to look through the viewfinder. I have thought about doing this myself. If anyone has any experience or knowledge of a similar gadget, I would be very interested to see it.

Hi list

is it possible to shoot with a 1ds tethered to a Mac AND see the viewfinder
display live on the computer screen?

Canons own Remote Capture so-called Viewfinder Display does not support the
1ds although it seems to work with the entire Powershot range (??)

I have found what looks like a useful product for Windows users
<http://www.breezesys.com/DSLRRemotePro/index.htm> but nothing similar for
Macs.

Any ideas?

TIA
