Dear Francis
I once saw some Cartier Bresson contact sheets at a magazine which ran a picture story on Kenya. I seem to remember about three rolls of film, 108 exposures, of one person. From memory it might have been Jomo Kenyatta. I also remember Ansel Adams, reported in the BJP, shooting like crazy on a trip to London, with a hand crank Rollei.
Getting back to the digital aspect I find I am shooting more frames for two approaches. 1/ I am shooting more to catch waves, gulls, light and extreme brackets over time on dusk/night scenes. 2/ I am also doing that thing which I have done but rarely on film. Using the digital camera as a sketchbook or creative tool to keep my eye in practice.

PS 'Don't Panic' is definitely Adams. HG2TG! See http://books.fantasticfiction.co.uk/x0/x1470.htm

I often wonder - how many Cartier Bresson exposures did we never see. he did of course have a wonderful eye and dedication to achieving the decisive moment. But I'm sure he didn't wait till he'd captured 36 decisive moments before he processed the film :-)
Trying to keep this discussion on a digital track.
