I have one of these Smartdisk devices (40Gb), with mixed feelings: It does most of what it promises, but not all. It is supposed to display thumbnail images of the files, but only does a good job of jpg. It won't display raw files from a 1Ds as thumbnail, and won't show full screen either. 300D files show fullscreen raw, but thumbnails only the top left corner = useless.
As a storage device I find it excellent. Battery life is awful, even how long the battery holds charge. But, I haven't yet found anything better. I was sold it by a rep who said it would display the raw files, which it doesn't; got to say, Smartdisk doesn't want to know about my enquiries in this respect, but has confirmed that there are no plans to upgrade it with a software fix - displaying files in full will require a hardware fix for future upgrades to the device.
