Well the old Epson list (it may still be going for all I know) did *lots* of testing and came up with the 240ppi figure.

Bearing in mind that opening a RAW file in PSCS allows you to have a file of 144MB then a resize down is more likely.

Having said that I have tried chucking a full 144MB file as well as optimised files at a 2100 and generally they both come out really well. Not sure I can tell the difference.

No doubt some might say you could be highly specific and choose an optimal res for your given size of output (based on input). Personally, I think you get great results either way.

But this would mean you have to resample? Let's assume you scan your slides
with the highest resolution possible you will very likely end up with a much

resample in image size?

In theory you should print a file of 240ppi on Epson printers, anything higher can be a waste of time.
