Hi all

I wonder if I am definitely supposed to expect only 4,4 Gigs of actual available empty room in DVD-R blank discs which are advertised as having 4,7 Gigs. I may have missed this "detail" but I can't recall any discussion about this before.

I am on a G4 Superdrive, using Toast Titanium v6 in OSX3.5 and so far, the brands I have tested( including Apple Certified discs) are all producing the same result, and I am really missing those few hundreds of Mb of storage, since most of my recent editorial projects could be split into 3 or 4 DVD's, each requiring about 4.6 Gigs in each disc, which makes it quite annoying, you know, like ending up with 3 DVD's and one CD to cover up some 500-600 Mb of data not fitting into the DVD's.

I would greatly appreciate any tips to solve this, in case there is some particular setting I am not aware of in TOAST 6( I m just using Mac & PC burning setting, but so far, all viable settings produce the same result) or in OSX3.5 that could help me recover this space, since and I intend to spend the weekend running a whole lot of backups.

THX!
