Michael I think a full copy costs a lot less than that. But since listmums have banned that thread...<g> > I can not afford a perfect profile to be made of my Epson 1270 on paper of > choice, I only > use it for thumbnails of images on the CD / DVD I'm supplying, but it would be > good to > provide an accurate representation, hence the ( misguided) choice of printfix > Now if Printfix can produce a profile that is "OK" ,despite the awful scanner > they provide, then tomorrow someone will be providing a next generation > version that does a better and probably cheaper job. I had a brief look at the link Brian Price posted (http://www.ddisoftware.com/prism/), might be worth checking it out because their software is not only Windows based but will also let you use your 15,500 scanner. > I'm of the opinion that the likes of Epson, HP etc should be providing colour > management > as standard with their printers in a way that enables users to choose their > own inks and papers. I don't think you are alone in your opinion. However, their generic profiles when used with their recommended media and ink (i.e., their own brand) should produce acceptable thumbnails. Also, some of the paper manufacturers provide good generic profiles for their media and Epson inks (other combos probably available but I haven't looked that deeply). For example, Ilford and Tetenal have generic profiles on their sites for their papers. I can't see how they can provide generic profiles for all media and ink combos, though. Well, not without charging 15,500 for a 250 machine. <g> Shangara Singh. ________________________________________________ :: Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) Photoshop CS :: Photoshop CS Essential Tips || Photoshop Glossary (eBooks) :: Examaids for Adobe & Macromedia Certification :: http://www.examaids.com || http://www.photoshopace.com =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
