They shouldn't but bear in mind that you need to view the screen in a 90
degree angle. Any deviation from this will alter the apparent lightness.

LCD monitors can be profiled equally well as CRT's if you have the right
tools.

If you have enough time on your hands it'll do the job. It's about
20somthing minutes to calibrate/profile a LCD monitor, probably due to the
adapter that needs to be fitted.
I'd still recommend the new version of Eye One display (with Match 3.0) or
Basiccolor Display with a squid or Eye One...
