Was talking to a magazine AD last week who expressed qualified willingness to accept digital now, after some dodgy submissions in the early days - wants 40Mb (-ish) files, which I could provide now from the S2 but which the D2X should produce at higher quality. Roll on...

I think the "Old Rules" have gone out of the window! 18 months ago I used a .jpg from my Minolta 7i as a background in an A4 full bleed for a brochure, after all it didn't matter whether it was a bit soft compared to the 35mm scanned pix in it, as it was only a background. It was sharper than the 35mm scans in the final litho print job.

I now use D100 & D70 Nikons all the time, and I very much doubt that a scan from a 6x7 original would hold a candle to the Nikon NEFs - tifs in print. Victor Blackman used to say that "A good bigg'un will always beat a good small one", and it was true with film, but digital is a whole new kettle of fish! (US translation: A whole new ballgame) , I believe!
Cat amongst the pigeons! (Not sure about the US translation of that one ).
Cheers,
JC
