It might be that the PRAM battery has failed. On the other hand, have a good
listen to it when it starts. Does the hard drive spin up? Will it start up
from the installer CD by holding down the C key on startup? Will is start up
in Target Disk Mode by holding down the T key?

(Shut it down again by holding down the power button on the CPU for several
seconds.)

Check all these things and report back, because then we can give you useful
advice.
