I've come across a rather baffling problem with the crop tool in Photoshop
7.0.1 (OS 9.2): I'm sure it must be something simple that I'm doing wrong,
but I've searched the archive and Googled to no avail...

My crop bar seems to be remembering the last value in either the height or
the width, even after it has been cleared. This means that it I go to crop
an image, and enter a value in width, but leave the height blank, I still
get a fixed proportion crop box, as if I have entered values in both boxes.

Example: if I do a fixed crop for 1000 pixels wide and 1000 pixels tall, I
get a fixed proportion square crop tool - no problem. But if I then clear
those settings, and now just enter a width of 500 pixels, but nothing in the
height box, I still get a fixed proportion box, twice as tall as it is wide,
as if it has remembered the previous settings for height.

Is there an easy way to solve this ? I haven't yet dumped my Preferences,
wanting to see if I'm just missing something obvious...
