I have similar issues printing Photoshop contact sheet pages out of OS-X. You can only use an action if the page setup settings are one of the standard settings. Setting anything custom at all is generally not recordable by an action unless someone can clue me in to some trick that I'm missing. It's a real pain to have to print the things one by one manually setting page setup on each. I've gone to using iView MediaPro primarily for this purpose. I can make a quick 'catalog' of my proof pages and send them all to the printer at once. Works like a charm. I print to either an Epson 9600 or 4000 loaded with 10 inch roll paper for making 8x10 proof pages.
