I'd get a good custom profile done. there are lots of services offering to do this now, we have one too, we're not the cheapest but like with photographers, choice is not all about cost. a bad choice of papersetting (which is all we have to <calibrate> an Epson printer using the shipped driver (i.e. without a RIP). the file could have been over edited, how does the histogram look? the photoshop histogram is NOT the be all and end all in image assessment but if it shows lots of gaps the file is probably <toast> as my US colleagues would say. it could be that digital capture has managed to reproduce <inkjet unprintable> colours (dark browns are probelmatic on inkjet) it could be that a camera sRGB file was opened into photoshop as Adobe RGB, sending the colours into saturation stratosphere and thus starting the problems off. If you want to know how safe you are for repro then get a proper proof done by listmember Jack Lowe who has a large knowledge of printing and a properly set up proofer (working to to ISO standards).
