You could try scanning at higher resolution settings, this has worked 
for me on occasion, but typically I will shoot it as camera copy set up 
and my PhaseOne and with really tough originals I will cross filter 
with polar filters. Always scan or copy in full RBG( not as greyscale). 
I avoid glass at all costs by hanging a oversized foamcore board with 
the original attached via sticky putty.
