I'm not sure what you mean. The only different between importing the extension profile and using quickinstaller is that quickinstaller does not state snapshotting so it can figure out what changes are made. There is an accepted PLIP for Plone 3.1 that integrates qi tighter into this setup so it can do the same snapshotting when you import profiles through portal_setup or during site creation.
